Are you a bank employee who wants to clear JAIIB but does not know where to start? Do you feel nervous about the exam? Do not worry. You are not alone.
Many bank employees feel the same way. The good news is that JAIIB is not as hard as it looks. With the right plan and good study resources, you can clear it in your first attempt.
Please note that IIBF has updated the JAIIB syllabus. There are now 4 papers in JAIIB, not 3. If you are preparing with old material, please update your study plan right away.
Let us go through everything step by step, from the exam details to a simple study plan that works.
Why is JAIIB Important for You?
JAIIB is a course by IIBF, which stands for Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. It is specially made for bank employees like you.
When you clear JAIIB, you get one salary increment. After that, when you clear CAIIB, you get two more increments. You also become eligible for promotions to higher positions in the bank.
In simple words, JAIIB can change your career. It opens doors to better pay and better job positions. IIBF conducts this exam twice every year, once in May and once in November. So the sooner you start, the better.
Clearing JAIIB in the first attempt saves you time, money and stress. Why wait for a second chance when you can do it the first time?
1. Know the Exam Dates and Exam Pattern
The first thing you must do is check the exam dates. For 2026, IIBF has already announced both exam windows:
May 2026 Exam: 3rd May to 17th May 2026
November 2026 Exam: 1st November to 29th November 2026
November 2026 Registration Opens: 1st August 2026
Do not miss the registration dates. Once the window closes, you have to wait for the next cycle. Here is the simple exam pattern you need to know:
✔ 100 questions in each paper
✔ Total marks are 100
✔ No negative marking. Wrong answer means no marks will be cut
✔ Exam is fully online
✔ Time is 2 hours per paper
✔ You can choose Hindi or English
✔ Each paper is held on a different date
There are now 4 papers in JAIIB as per the updated syllabus by IIBF. You must pass all 4 papers to get your JAIIB certification. Here is what each paper covers:
Paper 1: IE and IFS
- Indian Economic Architecture
- Economic Concepts in Banking
- Indian Financial Architecture
- Financial Products and Services
Paper 2: PPB
- General Banking Operations
- Functions of Banks
- Banking Technology
- Ethics in Banking
Paper 3: AFM
- Accounting Principles
- Financial Statements
- Financial Management
- Taxation and Costing
Paper 4: RBWM
- Retail Banking
- Retail Products and Recovery
- Marketing of Banking Services
- Wealth Management
How much do you need to pass? It is simple:
You need a minimum of 50 marks in each paper to pass.
Or you can score at least 45 marks in each paper with a total average of 50% across all papers.
You get 5 attempts over 3 years. But the goal is to clear it in the first one!
2. Get All Your Study Materials in One Place
Many students waste time searching for study materials from different sources. One PDF from a friend, one video on YouTube, one book from the market and in the end nothing is complete.
The better way is to use one good platform that has everything. MyOnlinePrep has already updated all its resources to cover the new 4 paper JAIIB syllabus. Here is what you get:
- Study materials written by senior banking experts covering all 4 papers in simple language that is easy to understand
- Video lessons for every topic explained slide by slide and easy to follow
- Mock tests made from previous year exam questions updated for the new syllabus
- Practice questions for every single topic across all 4 papers
- Everything is available on the mobile app so you can study from anywhere and anytime
You do not need to look anywhere else. Everything is in one place.
3. Make a Simple Study Schedule
You do not need to study for 5 hours every day. Even 45 to 60 minutes daily is enough if you are regular. Since there are now 4 papers, planning your time is even more important.
Here is a simple plan that works for most bank employees:
- Start with IE and IFS (Paper 1). It covers the Indian economy and financial system. Since this is a new paper, give it good time at the beginning.
- If you are from a non-commerce background, give extra time to AFM (Paper 3). It has accounts and finance topics which need more practice.
- PPB (Paper 2) is about how banks work. Most bank employees find this paper easy since it is related to their daily work.
- RBWM (Paper 4) is a new paper on retail banking and wealth management. Do not ignore it. Start studying it early.
- Keep the last 2 to 3 weeks before the exam for revision and mock tests only.
- After every video lesson, solve practice questions. This helps you remember what you just studied.
The experts at MyOnlinePrep can also help you make the best personal study schedule based on which paper your exam starts with.
4. Watch the Video Lessons Regularly
In JAIIB, every mark counts. So learning from the right teacher is very important.
MyOnlinePrep has experienced banking teachers who explain each topic in a clear and simple way. The videos go slide by slide so you understand everything from basic to advanced level.
Watch the videos regularly from day one. Do not wait until the last week. Even watching one or two short videos on your phone during your commute or lunch break will make a big difference.
5. Use the Study Materials Every Day
After watching a video lesson, always read the study material for that topic. This helps you understand it better and remember it longer.
MyOnlinePrep study materials cover the full updated JAIIB 2026 syllabus with all 4 papers. They are available on the app so you can read them on your phone even when you are travelling or taking a break at work.
Whenever you have a doubt about any topic, you can go back to the material and check. It is like having a textbook always in your pocket.
6. Take as Many Mock Tests as Possible
Mock tests are very important for JAIIB preparation. They help you in two ways:
- They show you which topics you are weak in so you can go back and study those again
- They prepare you for the real exam so you feel less nervous on exam day
Try to take at least 2 full mock tests per paper before your exam. MyOnlinePrep provides unlimited mock tests for all 4 papers, made by senior banking experts. Most of these questions are similar to the actual JAIIB exam questions.
You can take all mock tests on the app anytime and anywhere. The more you practice, the more confident you will feel.
7. Be Consistent and Study Every Day
This is the most important tip of all. You do not need to be the smartest person in the room. You just need to show up every day.
Study a little every day. Do not skip days. Even on busy days, 20 to 30 minutes of reading is better than nothing.
If you miss a few days, do not give up. Come back and continue from where you left off. MyOnlinePrep will help you get back on track.
One chapter a day. One video lesson a day. One practice test a week. That is all it takes, done regularly over 12 to 14 weeks, to clear all 4 papers of JAIIB on your first attempt.
You have worked hard to reach where you are in your banking career. JAIIB 2026 is the next step and it is very much possible to clear all 4 papers on your first attempt. Start early, study daily and use the right resources.
MyOnlinePrep is with you at every step of your preparation.
